Our mission is to provide a transformational learning experience designed to increase the capacity of individuals and groups to achieve intellectual, social, and economic goals.
Located at 18600 Haggerty Road in Livonia, Michigan, the main campus is 25 miles northwest of Downtown Detroit and conveniently near I-275.
- Create and maintain SQL queries to extract, compile, transform, compute, and submit data, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and accrediting body reporting requirements. Develop automated reporting solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Review and assess ad-hoc data requests, evaluate requirements, and translate them into clear business rules. Write and optimize extraction and data manipulation queries across multiple platforms to support projects, trend reporting, and stakeholder inquiries. Cleanse, transform, and integrate data from disparate sources to prepare it for analysis, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Provide comprehensive quality control for reports and queries, ensuring data accuracy and integrity across multiple systems. Investigate data challenges to pinpoint root causes, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
- Provide data that supports college initiatives, including quality improvement projects, measuring institutional outcomes, and evaluating student success.
- Design and maintain the back-end infrastructure, including datasets, fact and dimension tables, and star schema models, to support interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI. Write DAX code to create custom measures and calculations within dashboards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Programming or related.
- Two (2) years of experience and/or course work with SQL.
- Two (2) years of experience and/or course work in ETL processes, including data cleansing, standardizing, and preparing data for analysis.
- One (1) year experience and/or course work in database design, development, and maintenance.
- Ability to collect project requirements and manage deadlines effectively.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- A strong desire to learn and acquire new skills, with a particular interest in higher education data.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with higher education data and ERP systems, especially Ellucian Colleague Applications.
- Experience with developing Power BI reports and writing DAX measures to create insightful visualizations.
- Knowledge of dimensional modeling using star schema architecture.
- Understanding of data governance and compliance principles.
- Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Azure Certifications, or other relevant industry recognized credentials.
