The University of Houston is hiring a senior research analyst to support student success and enrollment management with analysis and reporting. The position will focus on the following competencies:
  • Querying data from institutional databases and merging large datasets
  • Managing data in Excel and R or another data management software
  • Generating descriptive and inferential statistical analyses and creating summary reports

1. Analyzes data using various statistical and other software programs to provide statistical and summary reports for strategic planning and program development.
2. Conducts research and studies on the institution, including design of studies, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Analyses data using appropriate statistical models and assists stakeholders in the interpretations of the data.
3. Provides data to senior administration and consults with key constituents' system-wide regarding appropriate research design, methodology, sampling, and evaluation protocol.
4. Responds to ad-hoc information requests.
5. Consults and provides guidance on design, data collection, analyzing and reporting research studies.
6. Coordinates with faculty and researchers on special reports, projects and analyses as requested.
7. Serves as project lead on the design and analysis of complex data sets used to address research questions relevant to institutional planning decisions. 8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following:
• Experience in higher education student success and/or strategic enrollment management.
• Experience creating and maintaining dashboards in Tableau.
• Experience writing queries in PeopleSoft (an Oracle database) or similar database.
• Experience in predictive analytics modeling.
• Experience in forecasting (e.g., enrollment, retention, graduation).
Experience with the following programs is a plus:
• Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Statistical analysis (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, Stata)
• Data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Surveys (e.g., Qualtrics)
