Blackburn College is a unique four-year liberal arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, IL.

Manage institutional projects and activities by conducting research initiatives related to student success and institutional planning; oversee institutional survey administration including homegrown and national surveys; and communicate and interpret research findings through the creation of visualizations and reports.

Provide information pertaining to institutional effectiveness by conducting research and analyses on graduation rates and post-graduate outcomes; update metrics on institutional strategic goals, supporting the institutional assessment of student learning outcomes; and collaborate with academic and administrative units on program evaluation.

Supervise work towards internal and external reporting requirements to meet publication and submission deadlines, ensure data completeness and accuracy, and build and maintain relationships with departments and offices.

Oversee data management by ensuring the maintenance of institutional database files including census and cohort files. Work with IR student worker(s) to pre-process, analyze, and archive historical datafiles. Collaborate with information technology and other departments on issues related to institutional data governance, data collection guidelines, and data access.

Supervise and assist student workers with the management and coordination of the student course evaluations for the college each semester/term.

Serve as Director of the Institutional Review Board by reviewing exempt research protocols from a variety of departments, coordinating review for expedited and full board reviews with campus constituents, and maintaining records of approvals and continuing reviews.

 

 

We recognize that different candidates will have strengths in different areas, and we are open to candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

A master’s or doctorate degree is strongly preferred. Consideration, however, will be given to Bachelor’s degree holders with significant experience in the field of institutional research. The successful candidate will have training and experience in higher education, experience in IR and/or program assessment, and substantive knowledge and skills related to quantitative and qualitative research methods. Extensive experience in data analysis, data visualization, and familiarity with data analysis software is also required.

Ability to assist the College in meeting regional accreditation requirements of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) which includes functioning as the Assurance System Coordinator and attending regional accreditation forums, as necessary.

 Experience with survey design, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and evaluation strategies.

Proven project management, organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving and time-management skills; Excellent attention to detail; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Adaptability and flexibility.
