The Research Analyst works under the supervision of the Director for Survey Research and Evaluation and assists in performing various duties related to survey design, data collection, data processing, data cleaning, and reporting for institutional assessment and survey research projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Director and survey research team on various survey projects including the design and administration of web surveys using Qualtrics, assisting in the analysis of data using SPSS, and creating summary reports with Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint.
  • Curate data into effective data-informed stories using Tableau, PowerPoint, Excel, and other infographic creation tools (e.g., Canva, Piktochart) while ensuring visualizations are accurate, consistent, current, and organized in a manner suitable to their target audiences. Research and recommend improvements to existing visualizations for improved engagement.
  • Assist with constructing and maintaining databases, including the coding and defining of variables used to report on surveys over time.
  • Analyze qualitative comments generated from survey research projects, including the editing and coding of the comments and production of summary reports.
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • ​Formal Education:
    • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum requirements:
    • 1-2 years, with demonstrated experience in a research or analytical field of study, such as, statistics, social sciences, educational research, or a closely related field.
  • Job Specific Knowledge:
    • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
    • Experience communicating complex information in writing.
    • Excellent presentation skills.
    • Must be very detail oriented while understanding the larger framework for detailed operations.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work independently and collaboratively on projects that deal with confidential information.
    • Must have a high attention to detail pertaining to data accuracy and data quality.
    • High level of adaptability to meet the changing needs of the office. Ability to learn new skills quickly is essential.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality in working with sensitive information
    • Understanding and ability to organize and catalogue data.
    • Demonstrated experience in one or more statistical software packages
    • Demonstrated experience in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
    • PC, working on varied server environments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a research or analytical field of study, such as statistics, social sciences, educational research, or a closely related field.
  • Two or more years in or more of experience in higher education or a comparable professional environment.
  • Understand the principles of survey research and data analysis.
  • Intermediate proficiency in SPSS and Excel
  • intermediate proficiency with data-visualization software, Tableau Desktop, and Tableau Server preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency with online survey tools, Qualtrics preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and other infographic creation solutions (e.g., Canva, Piktochart, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data scanning equipment.
