Job Duties

Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Research, the Data and Research Analyst supports decision-makers at all levels of the College, and through careful listening and interpretation, determines appropriate data for analysis, resulting in the accurate and timely provision of information. The analyst communicates and presents findings to various stakeholders and audiences throughout the College.

The Data and Research Analyst also performs data collection and analysis and contributes to the production of mandatory reports for the US Department of Education and the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, as well as grant-related reporting.

Job Description:

  • Produce mandatory reports and submissions (e.g., HEIRS, IPEDS, Perkins CTE, Gainful Employment, SUCCESS, etc.) as assigned.
  • Coordinate internal enrollment reporting and develop dashboard solutions with Tableau to track KPIs for various audiences.
  • Collaborate closely with administrative and academic departments to ensure a common understanding of data requirements and data definitions.
  • Build and maintain reporting solutions per requirements, to include managing, updating and maintaining the Institutional Research Data Mart and Custom Tables at regular intervals.
  • Write simple to complex queries in Microsoft ACCESS or SQL Server Management Studio for data extraction, analysis, and management.
  • Access relational databases and create/maintain documentation.
  • Respond to recurring and ad hoc information requests from administrative offices and academic schools and departments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and work flexible hours when necessary.

Job Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in data analysis, preferably in higher education.
  • Knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics and software (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS).
  • Design and development experience with Business Intelligence tools including dashboards (e.g., Business Objects, Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Familiarity with Colleague component architecture (data tables, fields) or similar ERP system and ability to quickly learn Colleague.
  • Working understanding of key institutional business practices and reporting metrics.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Excel and Access.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret specifications and design solutions.
  • Strong project management Skills.
  • Enthusiasm for problem solving; demonstrated ability to create effective solutions to complex tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various stages of data fluency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience working in a community college.
  • Extensive SQL experience (SSRS, SSIS).
  • MS Office Suite mastery including MS Access and VBA experience.
  • Experience creating systems and quality assurance documentation.
