Job Purpose:


Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and a part of the CIO’s leadership team, the Director of IT Engineering and Chief Information Security Officer( CISO) is responsible for the Information Security portfolio for the colleges Information Technology environment and data. Responsibilities also include the engineering design and ongoing evaluation of all IT systems and infrastructure. The primary objective for the Director of IT Engineering and CISO is to ensure TCTC technology and data environments are reliable, secure, flexible, scalable, and cost effective. The successful ITOIS Director will be a strategic thinker who will be critical in shaping and building a physical and digital campus community that is engaging and poised to meet the needs and expectations of students in this rapidly changing technology world. The ITOIS Director will lead or champion employees, projects, and cross-functional teams.

Job Duties:

System, Project, and Process Leadership – Responsible for the design, delivery, adoption and availability of the colleges server, networking, communications and security portfolios. Work closely with IT leadership and functional business leadership to understand the business objectives and processes, provide guidance to further leverage infrastructure to increase the user experience as well as the colleges effectiveness and efficiency. Lead projects from initiation to completion. Ensure infrastructure is reliable, secure, flexible, scalable, and cost effective.

Information Security Leadership – Responsible for ongoing evaluation, design and improvements to the colleges Information Security program. Coordinate with IT and college leadership to highest risk areas are identified are implemented. Establish metrics to gauge program performance and success.

Management - Lead the IT Engineering team. Matrix manage across IT. Directs the IT Engineering team in day to day activities, prioritizes work, maintains a budget, develops performance metrics and ensures employees are developing personally and professionally.

Systems Engineering and Tier 4 Support – Provide hands on support, engineering and problem solving as needed.

Vendor Management – Establish and leverage vendor relationships, understand product roadmaps, develop RFP’s, evaluate proposals, and manage vendor performance. Analyze, investigate and evaluate emerging technology & software trends.

Job Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science (information technology), mathematics, statistics; management information science or a related field and experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

  • Understands technology deeply at both the application/system level and at the server/network level, understands where the gaps often are between these two. 
  • Experience and working knowledge of physical and cloud-based architectures (On-Prem, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) and when to use one vs another; Demonstrated expertise in datacenter and servers as well as networking and communications infrastructure and administration. 
  • Demonstrated ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, project management, project and task prioritization; Experience developing technical documentation, business requirements and processes, use cases, knowledge articles and presentations. 
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of developers, product owners, and subject matter experts. 
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills, and the ability to achieve results through influence with individuals who aren’t direct reports.

Institution Description

Tri-County Technical College’s mission is to serve the communities within Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The College is also part of a state-wide system of sixteen technical colleges. We enroll 6,000 - 7,000 students each year in more than 70 major fields of study, including engineering technology, industrial technology, business, computer and information technology, public service, human services, healthcare, and university transfer programs. Developmental courses are offered for those who need to brush up on basic academic skills. The Continuing Education Division also offers personal and professional development non-credit classes in technical, business, healthcare, and personal interest areas to more than 10,000 community members each year. The main campus is located in historic Pendleton, South Carolina. The College also has four community campuses in Anderson, Easley, Oconee, and the Industrial Technologies Center in Sandy Springs.
