Institution: Officially known as The University of Arizona College of Medicine- Phoenix in partnership with Arizona State University, the Phoenix program is a collaborative effort with ASU, the City of Phoenix, TGen, Valley hospitals, community physicians, foundations and other organizations to bring research and biomedical engineering to Maricopa County and further strengthen health care for Arizona. The College of Medicine-Phoenix takes its place in renovated historic buildings on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus in downtown Phoenix. The campus also is home to Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) and the Arizona Biomedical Collaborative, a joint research venture of the UA, Arizona State University (ASU) and Northern Arizona University (NAU).

The Center for Applied NanoBioscience and Medicine seeks a fulltime Research Specialist who has experience in Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation (Capillary Electrophoresis, GC/MS). The incumbent will assist with CE measurements for validating biological experiments and will perform repetitive analysis of samples with high precision, maintains commercial benchtop instruments (e.g. ABI 3130 instrument) and will assist in data analysis.

Job Duties:
*Performs skilled procedures, tests and analyses requiring the delicate manipulation and/or fine adjustments to equipment in response to activity of the sample or specimen being used.

*Assist in loading and running microCE chip and ensuring QA/QC of all reagents and support in activities related to other biochemical processes such as PCR and other fluidic cartridge assays to be characterized by analytical techniques.

*Assists in validating data obtained from experimental procedures and recommends additional tests and/or modifications.

*Operates and maintains laboratory and experimental equipment such as, microscopes, spectrophotometers, photometers, spectrometers

*Performs repairs and makes arrangements for repairs to be performed; assists in the design and fabrication of research equipment.

*Assists in the development of written operating procedures and performs quality control checks to ensure procedures are followed.

*Orders, assembles, and organizes lab supplies, and assists lab manager as required.

*Additional duties in support of department/team research activities as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology

Salary/Benefits: $34,784-$42,843 Annually; DOE
