Job Duties: SUNY Fredonia invites applications for the position of Director of Institutional Research and Planning. The Director of Institutional Research reports to the Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. She/he is responsible for administering and maintaining the planning and assessment processes of the Institution. Core responsibilities include analyzing and reporting research findings for all internal and external institutional reports and surveys. The data provided are essential for internal decision making, for maintaining compliance with accreditation requirements, and for responding to internal, external, formal, and informal requests for University data. She/ he works closely with all divisions of the university and with individuals supporting essential functions such as enrollment management and reporting, institutional, college and departmental accreditation, outcomes assessment, and strategic planning.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Design, implement, and manage institutional research and assessment projects. • Compile and distribute essential data and reports on topics including enrollment, retention and graduation, and assessment. • Oversight of data collection and reporting for University Fact Book, IPEDS, US News, and college guides. • Oversight of the University’s participation in various federal, SUNY, and regional data exchange systems. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. • Work collaboratively with ITS and other departments to develop and use a central data warehouse with appropriate tools for university access to data. Qualifications: • Ph.D. and a minimum of five years of higher education experience; preferably in institutional research areas • Superior computer skills in spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and statistical analysis packages. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Ability to communicate complex statistical analysis to a non-technical audience.
