Trends in College Admission 2000:

A Report of a National Survey of
Undergraduate Admission Policies, Practices, and Procedures

March 2002

How have college admissions standards changed during the past 20 years? Who has assumed more responsibility for setting admissions guidelines? How many colleges use scores on admissions tests? Answers to these and other questions are available in a new report, Trends in College Admission 2000: A Report of a National Survey of Undergraduate Admission Policies, Practices and Procedures.

Trends in College Admission 2000 presents the results of four admissions surveys conducted jointly by the College Board and other major education associations between 1979 and 2000. The latest survey was conducted by ACT, Inc.; Association for Institutional Research; Educational Testing Service; the National Association for College Admission Counseling; and the College Board. Respondents were 1,644 two- and four-year institutions.

The full report identifies current practices and trends at public and private institutions for virtually every facet of college admissions -- enrollment patterns, planning, recruitment, market research, financial aid, admissions standards, admissions criteria, equity, and projections.

There is also a 30-page Summary that highlights key information.
