AIR recognizes its most outstanding members through a collection of awards sponsored by various committees. The awards include:
| Julia M. Duckwall Memorial Scholarship - The Julia M. Duckwall Memorial Scholarship program is designed to facilitate the professional growth and development of individuals who work in institutional research and related fields. The 2009 Institute Series application windows are now closed. AIR John E. Stecklein Award - Distinguished Membership is a meaningful recognition bestowed sparingly and only to those persons who have made significant and substantial contributions to the field of institutional research. The deadline for nominations is January 15, 2010. The Sidney Suslow Award - The Sidney Suslow Award is made by the Association for Institutional Research both to recognize the contribution of Sidney Suslow to AIR publications and scholarship and to recognize other individuals for distinguished scholarly contributions to institutional research over a period of time. The deadline for nominations is January 15, 2010. Best Paper Award - The Forum Publications Editorial Advisory Committee conducts a "masked review" of all Forum papers submitted for publication. The Committee is responsible for nominating papers for the Charles F. Elton Best Paper Award and for inclusion in the ERIC Collection of AIR Forum Papers. | Best Visual Presentation - Sponsored by the Publications Committee, the award recognizes an outstanding visual presentation of data/information in a format other than a traditional scholarly manuscript. The application window for 2008 has now closed. The AIR Outstanding Service Award - The AIR Outstanding Service Award (OSA) has been created to recognize members or former members who have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to the Association for Institutional Research for a period of at least five years. The deadline for nominations is January 15, 2010. Cameron Fincher and Charles I. Brown Awards - The AIR Membership Committee sponsors the Cameron Fincher and Charles I. Brown Awards and selects two outstanding Dissertation Grant proposals. Cameron Fincher was a founder of the Association and Charles I. Brown was one of the first members. Research and Dissertation Grants - AIR, with support from NCES, NSF, and NPEC offers funding to support research in higher education using the national data sets of NCES and NSF and research on the annual topic of NPEC. |
