The Institutional Characteristics Survey collects general information about the postsecondary institution. Data collected include:
- Institution name, address, telephone number, and Web address
- Educational offerings and mission statements
- Control/affiliation, award levels, and calendar system
- Admissions requirements
- Student charges, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and other expenses
The IPEDS Institutional Characteristics (IC) survey component, Part C (Admissions), can now be revised using the Prior Year Revision (PYR) System. In the past, all IPEDS survey components other than the IC were able to be revised.
