4/29/2002 Alternate Hotel   - The Metropolitan Hotel

The Sheraton Centre Hotel Toronto no longer has rooms available for some of the Forum nights.  Another nearby (two blocks) hotel has rooms available at an AIR Forum rate of $170.00 (Canadian) for Singles or Doubles, which would be about $110.00 (US Dollars)

Stephen Lewis and Stanley Ikenberry Plenary sessions have been changed. Stanley Ikenberry, session 012, will now speak on Monday morning at 8:30 and Stephen Lewis, session 017, will speak Sunday night at 5:45. 

One member reported that after trying to call the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel (416-361-1000) 
and always finding it busy, he checked with the telephone Operator and found their department phone system did not allow international calls and the result was a busy signal. 

We now recommend when entering or leaving Canada you must have either your Passport or a copy of your Birth Certificate and a government issued photo ID (Drivers License, etc.).  It is assumed that a "copy of your Birth Certificate" means a certified copy with the county stamp or embosses impression on the copy of the birth certificate.

Previously in the Forum Preliminary Program Book it was stated that: 

Canada is a foreign country, so be sure you have proof of citizenship for entering the country, and returning home. A passport is best since border security has been increased, otherwise two pieces of photo ID along with your proof of citizenship should be adequate. 

Please consider this an update to that information as security has become stricter.

Monday Night Event - Casa Loma: Dinner and Dancing

There will be shuttle buses between the Forum hotel and Casa Loma. Tours of the castle and the surrounding, recently restored, gardens are available before dinner. There is a minimal cost to tour inside the castle. Our dinner takes place in 3 rooms: the Great Hall, the Library and the Conservatory. This will be a sit-down affair, with full service and a cash bar. There will be musical entertainment by the Mandell Entertainment Group. Dinner will be followed by dancing until the wee hours. Space at this event is limited, so be sure to book early. 

Price: $58.00 (U.S.) per person (Transportation is included in the cost. Alcoholic beverages are not included.)
